About This Site
Most people get about half the fiber they need. Not because they don’t care, but because nobody makes it easy to know your number or to see it as actual food.
That’s the whole mission here. FiberIntakeCalculator does three things:
- The calculator gives you a personal daily target from the IOM formula dietitians use, not a one-size number.
- Data tables built from cited sources. USDA serving values and peer-reviewed analyses, so you can see what your number looks like as real food.
- The details others skip, like soluble vs insoluble grams, which the standard databases don’t even track.
How the data is maintained
Food values come from USDA FoodData Central and peer-reviewed laboratory analyses; the formula comes from the Institute of Medicine’s Dietary Reference Intakes. Data is reviewed against its sources and refreshed on a regular schedule. The full process is on the methodology page, and every dataset is listed on sources.
The site is built and maintained by the FiberIntake team. We’re not a medical practice and we don’t give medical advice; see our terms. Spotted a number that looks wrong? Tell us. Corrections make the site better.
